NEWCIS now operating from NEW PREMISES
The new carers centre, a nearly 6,000 square foot premises on Mold High Street (formerly Barclays Bank), will be a ‘one stop shop’ for carers and their families. The centre is made up of offices, meeting rooms, and a community room that will be used by other organisations and services to provide information and support and hold events and training sessions for carers. The NEWCIS charity shop has also moved into the newly refurbished building and will be open from Saturday 30th November. The shop will also remain open at Daniel Owen Precinct (next to Hughes Pharmacy) until further notice.
The centre will also have ‘Wellbeing Chalets’ in the back yard in The New Year that will be used for furniture restoration workshops, carer meet-ups and much more.
“Having such a large space and being on the ground floor makes us even more accessible, which is vital as we have carers who work with people living with dementia and disabilities.
A huge thank you to Flintshire County Council’s Regeneration Team who have supported us to apply for and secure the Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns Placemaking Grant, FFP Solutions, and DC Wolfe Construction Ltd. for transforming the building into a modern, clean, accessible building that will support our local community.
Although the new building will be a change in Flintshire, NEWCIS is still providing all its existing services in the same way across Denbighshire and Wrexham currently. NEWCIS is however keen to look at opening other hubs in these counties to bolster our outreach services, given the demand we are seeing, but for now we want to settle into our new home have all our operations under one roof.” Says Claire Sullivan, NEWCIS Chief Executive Officer.
Services will now operate as normal from the new premises whilst an official launch event will be held in the New Year.
