NEWCIS Coronavirus Services

NEWCIS Coronavirus Services

March 2020

NEWCIS are supporting carers through the imminent difficulties that coronavirus is causing.

NEWCIS endeavour to maintain the following services whilst following guidance from our local authorities and Government. If there are any changes to the services, we will advertise the changes here and on our social media platforms.

Keeping In Touch Service

NEWCIS will be operating a ‘Keeping In Touch’ telephone service for carers who may feel isolated, have no / limited social contact or are caring for a vulnerable person to speak about their situation.

We will be working with the local authorities in Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham to support carers and vulnerable people in our communities.

Keep Well, Keep Busy Packs

We are also preparing ‘Keep Busy, Keep Well Packs’ that can support you at home – these will include books, DVD’s, CD’s, board games, craft items etc. (all subject to availability). Please speak to one of our wellbeing officers if you think this could help your wellbeing and we will look at how we can get the pack to you.

The Steve Morgan Foundation

April 2020

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic the Steve Morgan Foundation introduced an emergency fund for charities and not for profit companies to support people affected by the virus. NEWCIS are delighted to announce that we have been successful in receiving funding from the Steve Morgan Foundation. The funding will be used to provide and deliver food and Well-Being packs and IT equipment to carers that are isolated, particularly in rural areas. ead more about it here.

The National Lottery Community Fund Essential Food Boxes

October 2020

NEWCIS has been successful in gaining a National Lottery Community Fund grant to support carers during the winter months whilst we are still dealing with the effects of Covid-19. Food boxes with fresh fruit and vegetables can be accessed for a 4 week period following a conversation with a NEWCIS Wellbeing Officer to assess that you are a carer and that the boxes would help support you with your own wellbeing needs and those of the family you care for.
