Carers Rights Day Round Up 2019

Carers Rights Day is an annual campaign that aims to raise awareness of carers and allow carers to get to know their rights and how to access help and support as soon as they may need it.

Carers Rights Day Round Up 2019

"Purple and green for carers to be seen"

NEWCIS love to get involved every year by holding drop ins and raising awareness in our own way – this year we asked people to get involved by wearing purple and green clothing to get people talking about carers! We also had some fun in the offices with this – some dedicated staff even painted their nails in our brand colours!

The right to work

This year we focused on the right to work. At our drop in sessions we were joined by People Plus, Flintshire County Council and Person Shaped Support (PSS). PSS were on hand to inform carers how to continue caring for someone in their own home whilst earning an income, and Flintshire County Council were supporting local carers become self employed carers.

Rhyl lit up

Denbighshire County Council lit up the bridge, clock tower, high street, promenade and waterfall in Rhyl in the NEWCIS brand colours purple and green to raise awareness of Carers Rights Day and unpaid carers – how amazing?!

Glyndwr University

Level 5 students at Glyndwr University raised £98.16 at their cake sale!

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone; carers, organisations and volunteers for getting involved with NEWCIS and Carers Rights Day this year, helping to raise awareness and continued support."
