What is the Young Carers ID card (YCID)?

On the 16th March 2021 we officially launched our Young Carers ID Card in partnership with WCD Young Carers and Action For Children. Our ID Card will be recognised across North Wales. The Young Carers ID card, is a simple card to help professionals including doctors, teachers and pharmacists to recognise you are a Young Carer which will help them give you the appropriate support you need and deserve.

The ID card has several benefits for the young carers that choose to have one. Such as:

> To raise awareness of your role and responsibilities.

> To discreetly let people, know about your caring role and responsibilities without having to share personal details over and over again.

> To give you confidence to ask for help or understanding from professionals like teachers, doctors and pharmacist.

There will be a suite of options for the ID Card available. This includes a card, a wristband and an app – (which is coming soon!)

Photography Consent

I give permission for the above named young carer to be identified to interested parties, for a photograph to be taken and printed on the card. I will return the card if my child is no longer a young carer, and I know that it can be withdrawn in the highly unlikely event of the terms and conditions not being adhered to.

Signature of Young Carer or Parent/Guardian

I understand that this card is a communication guide to help me explain that I am a young carer when I need to. I know that young carers have campaigned for this card and I will use this card for what it was meant for. It is not an official ID card and I will return it if I am no longer a young carer. I know that the card can be withdrawn if used for the wrong reasons but I, being a young carer, and generally pretty awesome, will use it for good reasons.
