Gwenda became a NEWCIS volunteer over 10 years ago and went on to pioneer the NEWCIS Craft Group and countless fundraising efforts for NEWCIS. Gwenda’s passion for crafting and her dedication to fundraising for NEWCIS was inspiring. She became the Volunteer Champion, head of the Craft Group, and above all – part of the NEWCIS family. Our sincere condolences are with Gwenda’s husband Wilf and the whole family at this time.

"NEWCIS, our Board of Trustees, carers and volunteers are deeply saddened at the news of Gwenda’s passing. Gwenda has been a volunteer for NEWCIS for over a decade and her enthusiasm, passion and energy always made me smile whenever I met with her. Always on the go, recruiting new volunteers, planning the next creative fundraiser, organising everybody for the next event, always laughing and smiling and supporting all those that she came into touch with. Gwenda we will miss you very much at NEWCIS and all that you represented for the organisation."
With fondest memories

Just to say what a wonderful lady Gwenda was, always had a smile and a kind word and always so busy. She will be missed by us all x

I worked with Gwenda when I was a volunteer coordinator - I was in awe of her enthusiasm about supporting, and raising funds for, NEWCIS through her passion for craftwork. Her loyalty to NEWCIS made her keen to be involved even when she wasn't feeling well. I have fond memories of our little chats and 'putting the world to rights'

I will miss our chats at the drop in on Wednesdays making you sit down with a cup of tea while you were rushing around making everyone else a drink and getting the craft materials ready for the craft group! Gwenda did so much to raise funds for NEWCIS and spent many hours volunteering for NEWCIS and the charity shop. Gwenda was a selfless caring person and I will miss her a lot. Barry

My memories of Gwenda are all cheery ones! Gwenda always had a lovely smile on her face, and an infectious laugh that appeared mostly when she told funny stories of anything that had happened that week! Gwenda was generous, kind, encouraging and extremely enthusiastic about her beloved crafting group and the help that gave to others- both the volunteers and the funds that were raised. It’s been an absolute pleasure knowing her. All my love Yvette xxx

I worked with Gwenda during the time I was the NEWCIS volunteer co-ordinator. She was a wonderful and loyal lady and totally dedicated to NEWCIS and the volunteer team. In 2016, we nominated Gwenda for a Wales Marsh award. This award was to recognise the work of volunteers in Wales. We were proud when Gwenda was announced the regional winner for wales and was recognised for her exceptional contribution to NEWCIS. I will miss our chats, always remembered Carole x
