First Minister of Wales visits NEWCIS
NEWCIS was delighted to welcome Eluned Morgan First Minister of Wales to look around our new Carers Centre.
Last year Claire Sullivan Chief Executive Officer for NEWCIS worked with Flintshire’s Regeneration Team who supported us to apply for and secure the Welsh Government Transforming Towns Placemaking Grant to transform the building. Claire informed the Minister that NEWCIS has over 24,000 carers registered to the service and the monthly footfall into the new building is over 400 a month for the carer services and over 4,500 people a month are visiting and supporting our shop which in turn supports the local area. Cllr Dave Hughes, the Leader of Flintshire County Council and the First Minister spoke with our volunteers and staff about the support NEWCIS delivers, which includes information, support and advice, Carers Needs Assessments, training, carer drop ins, counselling and much more. Rob Lewis NEWCIS Trustee and Mike Langford Deputy CEO also spoke with the Minister about how valued the service was to local carers and how essential it was to support unpaid family carers.
