NEWCIS hosts Carers Week Celebration Event in support of Carers Week 2026
Carers Week takes place this year from 8th – 12th June under the theme of “Building Carer-Friendly Communities.” NEWCIS will be celebrating unpaid carers across North East Wales by hosting a special Carers Week Celebration Event designed to recognise, connect and support carers while highlighting the importance of creating communities where carers feel understood, valued and supported.
Thursday 11 June, from 11am to 3pm, at Tents & Events, Clawdd Offa Farm, Pen-y-Ffordd, CH4 0HT.
The event will also mark the successful conclusion of NEWCIS’s National Lottery Community Fund-supported “Connecting Carers in the Community” project. The celebration is open to unpaid carers and members of the wider community and will provide an opportunity to come together, share experiences and learn more about the support available to carers across the region.
Visitors can look forward to:
· Information stands from local organisations and support services
· Wellbeing activities
· A complimentary lunch
· A fashion show and raffle
· Opportunities to meet NEWCIS staff and connect with fellow carers
These activities have been designed to celebrate the contribution of unpaid carers, reduce social isolation, promote wellbeing, and help carers access practical information, advice and support.
NEWCIS is part of a network of over 130 local support centres for carers. The network, operated by Carers Trust, works collectively to ensure better support and outcomes for carers in England, Scotland and Wales.
Alexandra Roberts, Director of Network and Innovation at Carers Trust, said:
“We see first-hand how local organisations are making a real difference to carers’ lives every day. From creating safe spaces to connect, to offering practical advice and essential support, the work of local carer organisations shows what’s possible when communities come together.
Building carer-friendly communities starts with action and investment at a local level, and it’s inspiring to see our movement of local partners leading the way during this year’s Carers Week.”
