Meeting twice a week for 12 weeks, the Active Futures programme is designed to enable participants to remain active and independent in their homes. Fit Futures A circuit exercise class for the over 50’s. Fit Futures is an evidence-based circuit class designed by a physiotherapist and health professionals to help you build strength and fitness progressively, week by week. It now includes Fitness MOTs, so you can track your improvements over time and celebrate your success. Each session ends with refreshments and a chance to socialise, all in a friendly and supportive environment — with outstanding results! | |
Join Erddig Nordic Walkers on weekly sessions for a fun way to get fit with a friendly group of people whilst enjoying the great outdoors. We walk in a variety of locations featuring some of the most beautiful scenery and surroundings in the Wrexham area. | |
Erddig Muddy Trainers is a fun, friendly and supportive beginner’s running group to help new runners reach their goals and is ideal for those wanting to do under 5k. The group meet at Erddig on a Saturday morning at 9am and light daylight evenings) on Wednesday’s at 6.30pm near the Erddig Ticket Office. The club was established as part of The National Trust’s ‘Let the Outdoors Move You’ scheme in Wales. Erddig Parkrun is a free weekly timed 5k walk/jog/run open to all ages and abilities. Organised by Parkrun volunteers, it takes place at 9am prompt every Saturday starting at the West Front of Erddig Hall. Register with parkrun on their website to receive a barcode to join in. Admission charges apply to anyone wishing to visit the house and gardens when they open at 10am – National Trust members and under 5s enter for free. The route starts and finishes outside the house, and includes the newly named ‘Erddig hill’ to challenge yourself along the way. Dogs on short leads are welcome at our parkrun. Wrexham Council’s Active Wrexham team has been given a grant by Sports Wales as part of the Healthy Weight Healthy Wales Action Plan. The 60+ sessions will enable the 60+ population in Wales to live longer, better and happier lives by improving their physical activity levels, confidence, strength and balance. The Active Wrexham team alongside Freedom Leisure and Plas Madoc Leisure Centre are committed to ensuring our senior population in Wrexham maintain a healthier lifestyle. These sessions will be delivered at Wrexham Waterworld Leisure Centre, Queensway Stadium, Gwyn Evans Leisure and Activity Centre, Chirk Leisure and Activity Centre and Plas Madoc Leisure Centre as well as a selection of online sessions via Zoom. We have a variety of activity sessions for you to try. These include senior gym, swim and group exercise sessions running across our centres within a safe and clean environment for you to enjoy. You don’t need to have any experience in exercise to join – our team will lead you through the sessions and current members are of course welcome. What are the benefits? At Denbighshire Leisure we pride ourselves on providing high quality, accessible opportunities to improve the wellbeing of Denbighshire’s’ residents. As part of this commitment, we are pleased to be part of the Welsh Government’s Health Weight Healthy Wales and Sport Wales’ Active Leisure Scheme, which supports us to offer a new opportunity to those people over 60’s which will encourage physical activity and healthy life choices, for those people not currently active. We’re a local nonprofit community gym in Bradley, Wrexham called Activ-8. We have been operating for over 20 years, working with local residents and agencies to improve people’s health, fitness and well-being. We have weekly fitness and martial arts classes for both adults and children. Our main goal is to help and support the community. Everyone is welcome! People of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities come to our gym which sets us apart from the high street gyms. Return to music with Wrexham Sounds. Musical activity of any sort is known to makes us happier, healthier and is a great way to make new friends. If you are 60 or over, and live near our studios in Rhosrobin, you are invited to join our Return to Music sessions 10:30am-11.30am on Mondays and Thursdays. It doesn’t matter whether you like to sing, listen, play an instrument or talk. Come and meet others who share a love of music and see where it takes you. Come and give something new a try. HFT support for carers offers: Luv2meetU Online is part of the Luv2meetU service. It allows learning disabled people and/or with autism the opportunity to access an exciting range of national virtual events. This offers you the chance to meet new people and make friends across the UK. You will have the opportunity to access online events using a range of digital platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom and social media, including Facebook. What sort of things can I get involved in? You can join in a range of activities such as quizzes, sporting activities, cooking, craft sessions, workshops, music nights, karaoke, film/book reviews/clubs and party nights. We also run a variety of different educational workshops such as staying safe online, relationships, mental health and well-being as well as the fun events. Activities are based on feedback received from our members. You can put forward your ideas at regular ‘Have your say’ meetings. Cycling 4 All is a charity providing unique cycling opportunities for everyone. Pedal Power is our cycling service offering fun, therapy and achievement for all abilities. The service is based at Alyn Waters Country Park in Wrexham. We have a fleet of standard and specialist bikes including trikes, hand-cycles, wheelchair bikes and side-by-side bikes. There is also a traffic-free cycle track around the park where our customers can enjoy the benefits of cycling in a safe and secure environment. The variety of specialist bikes and trikes help many people with different abilities and health conditions to exercise, achieve goals and have fun whilst doing it. And, if you want to hire a standard bike, use one of our accessible cycles, learn to cycle, or have a family cycle day out, we can help.
