Early in 2018 we placed an article in the NEWCIS newsletter asking for any photographers to get in touch. With the development of a new website and lots going on at NEWCIS we were in need of high quality photographs to help promote the work we were doing with carers.
Mike got in touch offering his services as a very keen amateur photographer. We quickly snapped him up and got him to work taking photos at various NEWCIS events. Since then Mike has become more involved with NEWCIS and has gone on to receive support as a carer himself.
"NEWCIS not only restored my self-confidence but helped it to grow by inviting me on a first aid course and taking a chance on me as a photographer along with all the support, encouragement and positive feedback from the staff and fellow carers I have become a confident photographer and as part of the Bagillt First Responder Team I have responded to emergency incidents within the community. None of which I would of ever dreamed of before becoming a client and volunteer with NEWCIS." Mike
Welsh Veteran's Award Nomination
Mike not only volunteers with NEWCIS but as a Community First Responder with the Ambulance Service and helps to organise a veterans support group. He was nominated for a Welsh Veteran’s Award for services to the community and became a finalist.
