NEWCIS has a number of volunteering opportunities with a range of differing roles to suit most. Where possible, a volunteering role with NEWCIS is adapted to suit your individual caring role.

Below are some of the volunteer job descriptions that are available at NEWCIS.

General roles include

  • Volunteering in a NEWCIS charity shop
  • In a community setting supporting a Talking Point 
  • Helping out at a Memory café  
  • Helping the administration team 
  • Helping to mail out newsletters 

Business Support

  • Managing leaflets - restocking, tidying, disposing of out of date material
  • General office duties – getting stock for kitchen (tea/coffee, biscuits), keeping office tidy, looking after plants etc, shredding/scanning/photocopying
  • Maintaining information board
  • Filling stationary pigeon holes with templates, envelopes, times sheets etc
  • Creating information packs
  • Answering the phones - taking messages/transferring 
  • Leaflet drops and putting up posters around local community

IT Support

  • Database auditing
  • Entry of volunteer hours onto database
  • Scanning and Photocopying
  • Check volunteer database to see if everyone is still active and wanting to be included in future events etc
  • Registering carers on system and sending and action to one of our wellbeing officers
  • Creating a carers corner for our website and ensuring it is up to date

Listening Ear

  • Providing a listening ear to carers
  • A set time each week
  • Volunteer will be provided with a list of carers to call


  • Bag packing
  • Taking information to local businesses
  • Taking donations to the charity shop
  • Taking donations tins and collecting them
  • Supporting with any craft and fundraising items needed
  • Running small events for fundraising in local community
