NEWCIS runs a training programme for carers registered with us in four key areas: practical skills, emotional support, leisure/hobby activities and employment support. Working with a range of training agencies including the Expert Patient Programme, the British Red Cross and Premier Health Care to deliver training courses to meet the needs and requests of carers. Topics covered on our popular training days include moving and handling, first aid, employability, coping with loss, Lasting Power of Attorney, mindfulness, check your benefits and IT, to name but a few. Our courses are well attended and provide carers with opportunities to try a new skill, improve their self-confidence and self-esteem and forge valuable friendships.

All courses are in a relaxed setting and are informal. We try and schedule courses to fit in with respite and childcare commitments. Courses are at different venues in Flintshire and Denbighshire and places must be booked in advance using the events page, email or telephone. Please note the training rooms in Mold are located on the first floor, which is accessible via a stair lift. If you are unable to use a stair lift please speak to us, as alternative venues can be arranged.

See what's on!

All the training courses are advertised in the NEWCIS newsletter or on our events page!

"The trainers knowledge and practical experience was amazing. They were also lovely people and the group was tremendous and close thanks to their facilitation. During the training course I felt I could be open and honest and was respected by others in the group." Feedback from carer
