Flintshire Local Voluntary Council (FLVC) maintains a list of validated community groups in Flintshire, the type of support provided and the areas in which they operate. This list is updated weekly and the FLVC staff within the Single Point of Access (03000 858 858) will have the latest information regarding what is available and where.
Individuals/families who need support and those people who have received a letter from Welsh Government because they are vulnerable and will need to be “shielded” i.e. self-isolate for 12-16 weeks should telephone the Council through the Contact Centre 01352 752121.
A triage system is in place, managed by Housing and Assets, to ensure appropriate Council support services are provided where needed and the individuals concerned do not have access to any other support or resources.
Some individuals will be transferred to Social Services’ Single Point of Access (SPoA) Team. FLVC are working closely with SPoA to match voluntary community groups to individuals/families who need support that cannot be met by our services. Two FLVC officers are based within SPoA team.
The Welsh Government are providing food parcels to the “shielded” individuals who have received the letter, if they do not have access to any other support or resources. Shielded people are being asked to telephone the Contact Centre (01352 752121) who will check their eligibility for the food parcel and identify if they have any additional support needs. As the food parcels are basic, these parcels are being supplemented with fresh fruit and vegetables through the Well-Fed project. Welsh Government Food is delivered to the Well Fed project where the parcels are packed and distributed by employees and with support from volunteers.
Well- Fed project The Housing and Assets Team are organising chilled meals through the Well-Fed Project, delivering over 2,000 meals per week to vulnerable individuals/families.
Community groups FLVC, through SPoA, will identify additional people who need support with food shopping and will match these individuals/families to the appropriate community group.
Collection and delivery of medication
Community Groups Individuals who need medication collection and drop off will be identified by FLVC staff working within SPoA and matched with an appropriate community group. Contact should be made through the Single Point of Access on 03000 858 858.
British Red Cross has a contract with Welsh Government to collect and deliver medication to those people on the “shielded” list who need this support and do not have access to other resources.
Welsh Government are recruiting additional volunteers through the Volunteering Wales website to provide support for community pharmacies for the collection and distribution of prescriptions. No other details are known about this services yet.
Community pharmacists are responsible for delivering controlled drugs.
