PURPOSE OF ROLE

To manage the Connecting Carers in the Community Project (funded by The National Lottery Community Fund) – to identify the increasing numbers of new carers within our communities, develop and integrate our services with other partners and resources by working with local groups and social enterprises, particularly in rural areas and provide greater opportunities for carers to cope/function in a more resilient community.

Working with Senior Managers in NEWCIS, and key partner agencies across Flintshire, Denbighshire and Wrexham to continue to develop services and monitor the progress of the project.

Success in the post requires a commitment to supporting carers and to working in partnership, to manage existing services and plan/develop new ones as required. Commitment to the full involvement of Carers in this process and to contribute to the outcomes for the Connecting Carers project as agreed with the National Lottery Community Fund.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

– To manage the Connecting Carers in the Community Project service in line with the National Lottery Community Fund People and Places Funding Bid. Overseeing the budget and that all expenditure falls within those set out in this bid

– To review and authorise referrals to the service in line with the budget and monitor outcomes as set out in the project plan

– Ensure the priorities of the project remain in line with the outcomes required by the service specification and monitor

– To manage & supervise the Lottery team comprising of 5 staff ensuring their work is in line and contributing to the overall outcomes of the project

– To work with carers and volunteers to create strong local connections and opportunities for engagement, sustainability and growth

– Recruit, train and support carer and past carer volunteers in conjunction with the Volunteer co-Ordinator as necessary

– To report/feedback to the National Lottery Community Fund on progress every 6mnths and/or as required

– To work alongside the team and others to ensure targets are met and feedback from carers/partners and volunteers is reflected in any new developments within of the project

– Undertake any other duties and responsibility commensurate with the post.

COMMUNICATIONS

Communication with carers is an essential part of the post to ensure good customer service is achieved, this includes updating the NEWCIS data base ensuring that relevant staff can access data in order to support the carer.

Work with the team leaders, and staff in the co-ordination and production of communications, including digital newsletters, posters, advice literature, press releases and publicity materials as required by the post when facilitating services for carers.

Work with the administration team to co-ordinate the ordering and supply of communications and PR materials, liaising with the Administration Manager.

GENERAL

Teamwork is essential to the smooth running of the organisation and all members are required to play an active part. Staff duties include helping to maintain cover in the office, dealing with calls from Carers and following all the policies and procedures of the organisation. Everyone has a responsibility to work co-operatively and in collaboration with all members to ensure that the organisation meets the requirements of the service level agreements it has entered into.

Due to the nature of the job, some evening and weekend work will be necessary and some engagement with our fundraising activities is also required for which time off in lieu can be taken.

LOCATION

The role will be based at NEWCIS Mold office, as such a current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle or access to equivalent transport is required.

This job description sets out the main duties of the role as at the date it was drawn up. These may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the role or the level of responsibility entailed. It is expected, therefore, that the jobholder will undertake any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post as allocated through line management.

RISK MANAGEMENT

It is a standard element of the role and responsibility of all staff within the Charity to fulfil a proactive role towards the management of risk in all their actions. This entails the risk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards.

HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

All employees of the Charity have a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.  Employees are required to co-operate with management to enable the Charity to meet its own legal duties and to report any hazardous situations or defective equipment.
