Over the past year the Adult Social Care department has engaged with the citizens of Wrexham including Carers and Service Providers in preparation for the tender of our new Carers Information, Advice, Support & Respite Service. A tender panel was formed which comprised of Commissioning & Contracts Officers from Adult Social Care, a Category Manager from the Council’s Procurement Team and Carers. The group developed and completed tender documents, evaluated and short-listed bids and invited prospective service providers to present their service to the panel. Carers’ views were particularly significant in awarding an overall score to select the new Provider.
Following a successful tender submission, Adult Social Care is pleased to confirm that NEWCIS will be providing Carers Information, Advice, Support & Respite Service in Wrexham for all Adult Carers.
The Carers Information, Advice, Support & Respite Service will provide the following:
Call NEWCIS for more information on 01352 752525.
Where will NEWCIS be based?
NEWCIS will have a base in the town centre that will be open to all Carers to drop-in for a chat or support. The office will be open Monday to Thursday from 09:00 – 17:00 and Friday 09:00 – 16:30.
Will the people who have provided me with information and support change?
A TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment)) Regulations preserve employees’ terms and conditions when a business or undertaking, or part of one, is transferred to a new employer. Any identified staff are eligible to transfer over to the new Provider so there will be lots of familiar faces!
Will Crossroads be providing the respite service?
Wherever possible, the person who provides you with respite care currently, will not change. However, if this is not possible we will work with the Provider to ensure the transition is not disruptive for carers.
Will I receive the same level of respite care as I have previously?
Yes. You have been assessed as being someone who would benefit from respite care; this will not change.
Will I have to be assessed again before NEWCIS support me? I have already received a Carer Needs Assessment and do not want to start from the beginning telling someone new about my caring role.
NEWCIS will work with Wrexham Carers Service and Hafal to transfer all records to ensure they receive timely and accurate information regarding the carers they will be supporting for the duration of the new contract; therefore there should be no need for any carer to start from the beginning. Carer Needs Assessments are reviewed annually by the Provider or Adult Social Care and can be requested at any time by the carer.
