NEWCIS Carer GP/Hospital Wellbeing Facilitators work across both counties working with the local health board and your GP practices to identify and support carers. Informing your GP and registering as a carer at the practice ensures your GP surgery is aware of your additional responsibilities as a carer, as a result they will know how best to support you to maintain your personal wellbeing, this may include offering additional services such as more frequent health checks and an annual flu vaccination. NEWCIS meets regularly with GP practices to ensure carers registers are up-to-date and inform the practice of updates on carers rights and services in the community

Every year flu clinics are held across the counties, as a carer you are entitled to free flu vaccinations, these can be either at your GP surgery during a flu clinic or in a some local pharmacies.

NEWCIS works with the community hospitals in Flintshire and on some wards in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd to support carers around the discharge process and the caring role once the cared for returns home.

NEWCIS has regular information stands at Ysbyty Wrexham Maelor and Ysbyty Glan Clwyd Hospitals to identify and register carers to ensure they are receiving appropriate support. Information is also available in the out patient departments for carers.
