The NEWCIS charity shops have been successful in gaining a Social Business Growth Wales grant which has allowed us to develop the charity shop services over the forthcoming year. The first one to launch is the workshop facility in the Buckley shop that will allow us to restore, recycle, upholster and upcycle furniture.

There are a number of exciting areas that we are looking for people to get involved with. Are you interested in and have the skills to support people to restore, upcycle and upholster furniture? Other craft works could be accommodated such as sewing, clothing alterations and cushion making.

Would you or the person you care for be interested in attending? Would like to attend as a way of providing respite or volunteering hours?

  • The workshop classes would be small (around 4 - 5 people)
  • Furniture items will be provided along with tools and materials to help you restore the pieces and enable us to sell them in the shop. If there are smaller items you wish to restore from home, this can also be accommodated.

Why get involved?

  • Learn new skills
  • Meet new people
  • Keep furniture items out of landfill
  • Keep active
  • Support a local charity
  • Providing a low cost furniture service to people in the local community
  • Keep high streets shops occupied
  • Support employment needs
  • Provision of workplace opportunities for young people.
